Please HELP KEEP THIS SHOW ON THE AIR! WE LOVE RUBY!

I wrote a blog a while back about Ruby Gettinger and how I thought it was crazy that Style Network had not decided whether or not to renew her show on their network for a 5th season.  If you missed it, here it is .

This week, Ruby’s fans alerted her to an article from Entertainment Weekly  stating that the show was not going to be renewed at this time.  A Style spokesperson told me the exact same thing when I called, that Yes they had confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that there were no plans at this time for a 5th season.  I think this is appalling.  There are so many shows out there on reality TV that  have ZERO substance.  Finally we get a show that is real.  REAL reality television!  Ruby’s journey is not all glitz and glam and sparkles.  She has issues.  I would venture to say that anyone who is morbidly obese has serious issues.  If we didn’t, we could all put down the fork and lose the weight in a flash.

Ruby was facing her problems head-on and trying to get to the bottom of what caused her to become obese.  This is such a critical part of recovery for this disease.  Do I sound like I am talking about an alcoholic or something?  Yes I do.  This disease is so similar to any other substance addiction.

When I was 325 lbs and waiting to have my gastric bypass, Ruby was just coming on TV.  I could totally relate to her and her battles with “The Beast”.  I was fighting the same battle. Sure I took a different path than Ruby did, I used the tool of bariatric surgery.  Ruby did not think this was the right tool for her, but supports the procedure for those who find that it is.  I had to totally change my lifestyle and I work hard every day to beat my own beast.  It is not an easy journey for any of us.

Her show was really getting into the emotional side of obesity and fighting it during Season 4.  She had setbacks, and bumps in the road, and guess what?  WE ALL DO!  It makes her even more real and more believable.  The first time Ruby was a guest on my radio show, Fit Living, we had a blast and were so hopeful that good news for her was just around the corner.

When we had Ruby and Georgia and Jeff on last night to tape this Sundays’ show, things were not so hopeful.  Ruby had just gotten this news and it was devastating. the part that bothers me most is that no one even called her to tell her the news.  She had to hear it from the internet!  She is such a trooper and trying to keep her head up and chin up and knows she has the support of the weight loss community.

I decided to call Style myself and was able to get through to a spokesperson for the network who informed me that indeed there were no plans to renew “Ruby”, but that she was still very important to Style and would be one of their “Fight with Style” ambassadors against obesity.  I am not really sure what that means and they were very vague with me.

The spokesperson also told me that Ruby was clearly very popular with the fans.  My next question to her was to ask why they were not renewing her for a 5th season if they love her so much and the fans clearly love her???  I told her that it was clearly a win-win for all to keep her on the air.

She then told me that the door was not closed to possibilities in the future, but at this time, they felt like her story had been told and a 5th season was not going to happen.  I proceeded to explain to her that ever since Ruby appeared on my show, I have been flooded with emails from her fans telling me that they want to see her journey to the end and to the finish.  The spokesperson really danced around that one and never did answer me.

With so many shows out there that really do not help anyone or touch anyone, how can they think of not renewing one like this that TRULY touches people?  Ruby and her friends have started a petition to keep her show on the air.  You can help by signing it here:

KEEP RUBY GETTINGER ON THE AIR!

It was interesting to me that  Style insisted that “Ruby” is not cancelled, just no plans for another season at this time.  Is that double talk or what????  I left the conversation even more confused.  She spoke so highly of Ruby and acknowledged how popular she is with the fans, and yet they do not think she should be renewed?  Who’s life is helped in any way by shows documenting the daily life and fake marriages of affluent young women who’s only claim to fame is being on reality television?

Ruby is real with real problems.  Food addiction is one of the most widespread addictions in this country and there are so few talking about it.  I am a recovering food addict myself.  This was me at 325 pounds:

I was an unhealthy mess and was eating myself to death.  I had so many physical issues related to my obesity.  I learned quickly that until I fixed what was going on in my head, the physical would never be fixed.  Thankfully, I have a good friend in Augusta, GA , Dr. Connie Stapleton, PhD who is a psychologist specializing in food addiction and weight issues.  She really showed me what this addiction was all about.  More people need to realize that this is a serious addiction and “Ruby” was one show that was finally addressing the issue.  So many people do not even realize the addiction to food is more powerful than that to cocaine and heroin   There are medical studies to back this, this is NOT my opinion.  Check out Dr. Stapleton’s site for more info.

I could never have gone from the photo above to this  without the knowledge of food addiction and how powerful it can be.  From 325 pound unhealthy woman to a runner who finished her first half marathon almost a year ago would never have happened without addressing my food addiction. I was so excited to finally see a show addressing the issue and confronting it.  Is it pretty?  NO  But is it real?  YES!

Ask anyone who knows me about my addiction to this beast:

I find it hard to believe that Style does not see the true value in letting the public see Ruby’s battle and journey to its conclusion.

As my husband Ben says, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  I think we all need to squeak and let these networks know what we want to see on TV.  It does not matter how you lost weight or if you are still trying to lose.  We are all fighting the same battle.  We should all try to help keep shows like this on the air that tell the public that they are not crazy and yes this is a terrible addiction and disease and battle.

How many people used to think they were just fat and lazy and doomed to be that way forever because they didn’t understand the powerful addiction that had control of them?  How many of them have hope after being exposed to the problem of food addiction thanks to “Ruby?”

Of course Ruby would love to see Style pick the show back up.  But if they will not, we need to approach other networks who would be a good outlet for her show.  If you miss the interview on Fit Living this Sunday, December 18th, at 7:05 PM CST, keep checking back on The Bariatric Guru Facebook page for the show to be posted online.  LIKE the page and you will get all of the updates as we get them including the next time Ruby will be on the show.

Be sure to sign the petition at the link above.  Here are some other numbers for you to call and voice your opinion:

Lifetime TV- 310 556 7500

People Magazine- 212 522 6699  editor@people.com  People magazine loves to hear from the public on these type of issues.

If everyone lets their voice be heard, we can help get this show back on the air.  Ruby is a wonderful person and I am proud to call her friend.  She is strong and brave and boldly opened up her entire life to us all.  She deserves the chance to finish her story.  The public needs to hear it as well.

Thanks everyone!

Why would Style Network shut dow Ruby? She is an inspiration to many people; not only people that are overweight but people dealing with personal issues that have to be conquered (lost memories). I love how Ruby has such confidence in herself…This has helped me and others alike to take pride in ourselves no matter what. WE WANT MORE RUBY!!!

    • margaret smith says:

Leave Ruby on the air. She is an inspiration and a beautiful person. So many can learn from her and not just about weight.

    • LORI says:

MAYBE STYLE DOES NOT CARE WHAT WE THE PEOPLE WANT, WE ARE THE ONES WATCHING THERE SHOWS, IF NO ONE EVER WATCHED STYLE. WHERE OH WHERE WOULD THEY BEEEE. I’LL TELL YA WHERE NO WHERE WITHOUT US THE VIEWERS. GET OUR RUBY BACK.

  2. Beth Strouse says:

    Keep Ruby on!

  3. Furious says:

We all know that weight battles go on for the rest of our lives – it’s a fight we have to embrace and this show does it all!! It entertains, it pulls you in and it teaches us all that even though we are each unique the struggle, the fight and the victory are all the same. This show could go on forever! Ruby and her friends are engaging personallities willing to share and give of themselves to help Ruby and the rest of us keep at that battle. Talk about interactive TV! This is the best!

  4. Marcia says:

I am canceling Style network! I can not believe them!!!
Some network PLEASE allow Ruby to complete her journey. Bring her series back! She belongs on OWN! Ruby has so much wisdom! Bring her back to TV ASAP. Thank you.

  5. bamabeancounter says:

we ask ‘why?’ i think the answer to why is exactly what you said in your blog. the opinion and thought is that fat and lazy is just what obesity is!!! that is so much of the public opinion. it truly is ok to discriminate against overweight people in the workplace and other places. this carries on in the cancellation of ruby’s show. i never watch style, EXCEPT when ruby is on!! guess i won’t be watching style. 🙂 i’m certainly not trying to whine, just trying to face reality about the real world and the situation i find myself in!!! put ruby on own. i think she’ll do great.

  6. candace conrad albert says:

When they treated Ruby like this..I will not watch the STYLE network any longer and have asked my friends to boycott STYLE on Sundays from 8-9.that is when her show aired..They should go with what the viewers want instead of what they want..if it wasn’t fro the viewers there would be no Style network and I can truly say this is what I hope happens after the way they did MY FRIEND–RUBY…we love her and want her back..

  7. Sandra Wilson says:

It is a disservice to so many as well as to RUBY to cancel her show. She struggles with a dilema that almost every women has to some extent or worries about. REAL TV, by and for Real people!

  8. Debbie says:

We want Ruby!!! Please re-consider and keep her show on the air!

  9. outraged says:

I am outraged!!! I am canceling com cast! the only reality show on television that can actually help us! I hate Style network and I am posting everywhere for us to boycott!

  10. It’s crazy to eliminate a show that gave the greatest ratings and has helped and inspired so many people!! What were you thinking? There are way too many people that need this show! It’s about what WE want isn’t it!! BRING IT BACK!!

  11. Jane says:

What is wrong with Style? Why would they leave us hanging. I can’t believe they will keep that trash about wives on, but take off Ruby. Ruby needs to be with OWN! Someone who cares and understands her journey. I am furious about all of this. I am fighting back and posting for everyone to boycott Style network!

    • LORI says:

SOMETIMES WE AT LEAST GET TO KNOW ITS THE LAST SHOW, AND SOMETIMES WE GET UP DATES. STYLE JUST FILMED THE SHOW AND PULLED IT OFF THE AIR. WE NEVER EVEN GOT TO SEE THE LAST SHOW. WHY WERE THEY SCARED THAT THEY MIGHT GET GREAT RATEINGS. GEE I WONDER MAYBE NON OF US SHOULD WATCH ANY OF THERE SHOWS. RUBY GO TO OPRAH

  12. Melodie says:

Please don’t give up on Ruby…. You obviously have no idea the impact she has had on people over the years. Not only is she still on her journey, she’s not finished inspiring those that need to begin theirs. Ruby will nit let you down! Bring her back and you won’t regret it!

  13. Lenore Hearns says:

Finally a real person that we as obese women can relate too and yall take her off the air.. Please bring Ruby back.. We need her, she is so inspirational and has such a sweet spirit. I seen her struggles and they were mine too..she understood, we understood each other.. We (obese people) are tired of seeing all these skinny women pransing around acting as if they are over weight..can not relate to them and will not ever relate.. Please give us back Ruby.. thank you very much..

  14. Can we get the advertisers on Style who support Ruby to do anything? I mean, if some religious group in Florida can get Lowe’s to pull advertising from their show about Muslims in Michigan (which is a horrible display of discrimination) then why can’t we get Style advertisers to back Ruby with threats of pulling their ad dollars. I don’t see why they want to keep on that Jersey-trash which has NO informational, inspirational, motiviational value.

    • That is a good idea. I will ask Ruby who the advertisers were.

      • LORI says:

I WISH RUBY CAN GET OPRAH TO PUT HER SHOW ON. AFTER ALL SHE HAS ROSIE ON HER NETWORK.AND WHILE THE SHOW IS INTERTAINING, RUBY HAS A GOD GIVEN MISSION, TO HELP OTHERS AS WELL AS HERSELF. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN GET HER BACK. WE NEED GOOD SHOWS LIKE HER.

      • LORI says:

I HOPE SHE WILL GO TALK TO OPRAH I’D LOVE TO SEE HER HAVE A GREAT RUN LIKE OPRAH DID. BE THERE WHEN SHE HAS SURGERY, WHEN SHE FINDS TRUE LOVE, AND WILL SHE ADOPT A COUPLE KIDS FIRST AND HAVE A COUPLE WILL SHE ADOPT OLDER KIDS FIRST MAYBE 3 YR OL AND 5 YR OLD. WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN HER LIFE. SO MANY OF US LOVE HER AND WANT TO KNOW. I’D LOVE TO SEE HER GET INTO A SIZE 12 JEANS AND WEAR A WEDDING DRESS SEE THE WEDDING. HE BETTER GET HER AT LEAST A 4 CT RING. WOW THERE IS SO MUCH MORE OF HER LIFE THAT WE CAN BE APART OF. SHE’S GREAT I REALLY MISS THEM ALL. MAYBE SHE MIGHT EVEN MOVE TO COLORADO OR INDIANA OR HOLLYWOOD WHO KNOWS WHERE LOVE WILL TAKE HER TO LIVE.. HER I LIVE IN WARSAW INDIANA WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN. ALL I KNOW IS I WANT THE SHOW BACK. WE ALL LOVE HER.. I LOVE EACH ONE ON HER SHOW.

  15. Susie says:

Please don’t cancel the show! We love it!

  16. Audrey Cason says:

I feel like the STYLE network has been so disrespectful in how they have handled this and treated Ruby. I have been so inspired by her and have loved being a part of her journey. This was one of the few shows I really loved. I think they owe it to RUBY and her fans to have at least one more season. They did not prepare us for it be the “last” I feel like it was just left unfinished. Her show is the reason why I got STYLE in the first place. I am so disappointed and angry. Style network is so unprofessional. Praying for Ruby and hoping that another network will pick her show up so we can continue to be with her on her journey. I am continuing on mine as well – she has been such a huge motivator for me would love to see this to the end. God bless her.

  17. Erin says:

    SAVE RUBY! ❤

  18. Kelly Deal says:

You need to keep Rubyon the air because she’s a genuine person who millions of us can relate too. Unlike the other shows that show plastic women wit all their plastic surgeries, that live in billion $ homes , drive million $$ cars, pay 1000’s for a pair of shoes, a purse or clothing. Spend 100 of thousands on their kids birthdays etc. Ruby is just like us and even ppl that don’t have weight issues can relate to her and use her struggles in their lives. Ruby is genuine, loving, passionate and lives in the REAL world with a set of great family & friends!! Keep TV REAL & KEEP RUBY!!!!!

  19. Peggy Oickle says:

“She then told me that the door was not closed to possibilities in the future, but at this time, they felt like her story had been told and a 5th season was not going to happen.”
“at this time, they felt like her story had been told”??? really? really??? i felt that they were just getting to the heart of Ruby’s issues… her story is no where near being “told”.
God bless you Ruby! May you stay strong through all of this!!

    • LORI says:

WHO ARE THEY TO SAY WHAT WE WANT TO SEE, HER STORY JUST BEGAN, WE WANT TO SEE HER FIGURE THINGS OUT IN HER LIFE, WE WANT TO SEE HER FIT INTO THAT SIZE 12 JEANS, WE WANT TO BE THERE FOR HER DURING HER SURGERY, WE WANT TO SEE HER FIND A NICE CHRISTAIN GUY. SOMEONE TALL I WANT TO SEE HER GO TO A DATEING SERVICE, AND MEET AND DATE GREAT GUYS. I WANT TO SEE HER ON MILLIONAIRE MATCHMAKER AND SEE IF SOMEONE PICKS HER. OR IF PATTI CAN FIND HER A HANDFULL OF GUYS TO DATE.THERES SO MUCH MORE TO HER STORY THAT CAN BE TOLD. FINE BE FRIENDS WITH DENNY. BUT FIND A REAL GUY WHO LOVE RUBY WHO CAN MAKE THAT VOW OF MARRIAGE. IF IT MEANS RUBY HAS TO MOVE TO HOLLYWOOD OR COLORADO OR TENNESSEE. SO BE IT FOR LOVE THAT WORD CAN TAKE US HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD WHEN ITS THE RIGHT PERSON.

  20. Laura Camden says:

They keep that show the biggest looser on because it is a game & gets a lot of press but truly doing weight loss the right way & dealing with all the demons that go along with getting healthy they take it off makes me so mad not that the biggest looser is bad. But we have come to know Ruby her story & her friends, doctor,s therapist’s, Physical Trainers & even her dog she is like family & we want to see her find out why she can not remember her childhood & keep on her journey & see her through food will always be in her life as well as all of ours. But Ruby is truly an inspiration to many & I am one of them that she inspires please keep Ruby on there are alot of us out there that need her …

  21. I have no words!!! says:

I have no words!!! We have to get Ruby back! I have no words! I can not believe Style did this.

  22. toni hastings says:

  23. Sylvia Bush says:

  24. Cheryl Horseman says:

Please keep Ruby on TV I love her. She is like family.

    • LORI says:

THATS HOW I FEEL, WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE OF HER STORY TO SEE, HER GETTING TO A SIZE 12 JEANS, HER SURGERY, HER FINDING TRUE LOVE, THE ENGAGEMENT, THE WEDDING, WILL SHE ADOPT 2 KIDS THEN HAVE ONE OR TWO OF HER OWN, WHAT STATE WILL LOVE LEAD HER TO. WHAT JOB WILL HER FRIEND GET WILL HER FRIENDS FIND LOVE SOON. WHO WILL IT BE. WHAT STATE WILL LOVE LEAD THEM. SO MUCH MORE. WE WANT RUBY BACK

  25. Lynne Foosaner says:

I refuse to cancel the “Ruby” season pass I have programmed on my TiVo. Please Santa, all I want for Christmas is another season of Ruby!!!!

    • LORI says:

YES BRING US BACK OUR RUBY FOR AT LEAST 10 MORE YRS, AND YEARLY UPDATES 3 AND 2 HRS LONG. RUBY GO TO THE OWN NETWORK HURRY.

  26. Jennifer en Quintin says:

Ruby is the best person in the world. keep her on the air!!!! she is an inspiration to all…

  27. Boycott Style says:

Tomorrow I am canceling my package with com cast. I’ve been spending all this money to watch Ruby. Style use to be a respected network. Style is becoming Jerry Springer. Ruby needs to go with Oprah. What can we do to get Ruby back on TV? I need to watch her journey. I miss her & her friends.

  28. Boycott Style says:

Ruby was the only show I watched on the Style network. She is such an amazing down to earth inspiration to people and this is the show you choose not to carry?? You should rethink this plan and really think HARD! There are so few reality shows with real substance and you are taking yet another show away. I am boycotting Style! Lets find a network to pick Ruby up.

  29. Mary says:

Shame on you Style, go ahead and show the shows you are showing. It seems if the people want it you will kill it off…..Shame on you Style….I am furious!! How can we make sure Ruby continues?

  30. Ruby has been an inspiration and “Godsend” to millions of men and women. Why would you not keep Ruby’s show going on. Obviously all her folowers love her and want her to continue and would be devastated and lost if you did not renew the show.
If you have so many people watching “Ruby”/ Why would you?
I would ask to please “Keep Ruby”.!!! As I love Ruby as well.
    Thank You,
    Marty

  31. Kathy Roberto says:

Please keep Ruby on. I have never missed an episode. Why would you not bring the show back. Its a great and decent show. With all the trash reality on TV I cant believe you would not bring it back.

  32. Mary Santos says:

I honestly can’t believe Style would not renew Ruby’s contract. I loved that show and there are so many fans. I do have to say that I think Ruby is too good for style and she should move on to a network that really does appreciate her and appreciate her fans. Hopefully nothing comes on Style that I want to watch, because I am totally not interested in this channel anymore. Maybe you need to take a look at your viewers. This is probably a total waste of time, as they probably don’t even bother reading it.

  33. Angela Antini says:

Please Keep Ruby on the air…… She is a great person, and is an inspiration to all her viewers I love you RUBY…

  34. Lori says:

I have signed the petition and hope that it works. I also hope that the press she is receiving will prompt other networks to pick her up. I think she would be great on the TLC network and would be a great addition.

  35. kerry walters says:

Hello Style, I hope you read this and all the other comments and reconsider your decision to cancel the Ruby show. I watched all the past Ruby shows on Netflix one rainy day, and was very impressed with the powerful impact of this show. I am not sure why you cancelled but wanted to tell you compared to all the other programing you have on your network, this one, by far is top quality! I never get tired of seeing the way these people support and relate to each other and also how Ruby deals with the addiction to food and overcomes it. I am sick of all the other programing you have on style so I rarely watch Style since taking Ruby off. I really miss this program because it was more honest and real than any other similar type program, but seemed to also have a positive outlook. Seeing her get resolutions and deal with every day problems with being overweight. I think you were onto a revolutionary program. Sorry you didn’t see it that way. I think you had a whole group of charismatic friends who lit up your whole programing roster and I miss this show very much!

  36. Heather e says:

Ruby is a great family show that everyone can watch together. Not happy it is not coming back, and I will have no reason to continue to watch your network!

  37. Toni Orchard says:

I might be a bit controversial but Ruby can continue on her journey without the Style Network (which without Ruby is a load of “celebrity” trash). In this day and age with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube Ruby can share her journey with all the people who really support her. I watch lots of people who do vlogs which are video blogs on YouTube. So please Ruby continue to share your journey with us all.

  38. Mary Lou Wilson says:

I for one am very upset that Style Network did not renew the Ruby show. Nothing else on the Style network is worth watching. I can promise you that if they don’t renew her show then I am giving you my word that I won’t watch that station anymore. Why not let people know about real life things that might help others! She is an inspiration to people of all sizes but especially the obese population! PLEASE RECONSIDER!

  39. angie says:

Please keep Ruby on the air I love the show

  40. Anne Gooch says:

Style Network you are losing viewers because of not putting Ruby back on! I stay home all day and I don’t care about Kimora, Tia & Tamera, Glam Fairy, Jerseylicious and the list goes on and on. The two shows that I do watch faithfully or did watch faithfully is RUBY and Too Fat for 15. These are the shows that people care about because more people can relate to the people on these two shows than any show you have on your network. Most of your viewers are not rich and never will be BUT I know you have viewers that are overweight or obese or have weight issues and they feel like these shows are about them.

I get so sick and tired of networks deciding what the viewers want and don’t care if the viewers are upset that their favorite shows are canceled.

I hope to see Ruby back on Style very soon!

  41. Lynette says:

Bring Ruby back she was has such great spirits and is an true inspiration to all of us…I have watch Ruby from the beginning. I have lost over 200 pounds because of her spunk.
    BRINK HER BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. Lisa Griffith Materna says:

Taking Ruby off the air would be like removing handicap facilites from the public. We all need a place to be accepted and inspired.

  43. Judy says:

Please Keep Ruby on the air! She is a great person, and an inspiration to all of us. I love RUBY!

  44. Shane says:

I realy miss you Ruby,I hope you come back to TV,we all need someone on our side and someone to look up to. Someone pick up Ruby!

  45. Tammi says:

I love Ruby and I want to see more of her show. Please put Ruby back on. We the people need her. Tammi

  46. Patty says:

I want you back, Ruby! If Style is too focused on silly fashion crap & fake wives to continue to show important stuff like Ruby’s show, then maybe some other network can pick your show up. Their loss.

  47. Carol is outraged says:

I am boycotting Style network!!! Ruby is amazing PLEASE Keep bringing her back!! she is such an inspritation to me because she is REAL and she is not afraid to say that she fails sometimes but she keeps getting back up!!! that’s a real struggle there is nothing about her journey that is glamorous. Now that’s reality tv. please keep her on!!!!

  48. Maria says:

Style has lost their minds! I’ll watch you anywhere, even if only on youtube. But I think they should keep you!!! I watch your show with my girlfriends and you are inspiring in more ways than one!

  49. Rita Bring Ruby Back! says:

PLEASE TELL ME HOW to bring Ruby back!!!!! She is such an inspiration and her story has made a huge positive impact on so many people and has given so many of us inspiration to change our lives!!!! HER story IS what the MAJORITY of us want to see!!!!!!

  50. Terri says:

    Keep Ruby on the air!!!!

  51. Kim Aikens says:

I hope they can keep yoy on tv. You are such an inspiration to many, many people!! Love to se9bllmnnbhuI hope they can keep yoy on tv. You are such an inspiration to many, many peopl

  52. Terry Bernstein says:

Please keep Ruby on the air. We miss her and she is a great incentive for people going through the same. Thing. Also gives her motivation to go on. Love ya Ruby

  53. Sarah says:

    I love Ruby!!!!

  54. Elaine says:

I will be praying the Style would reconsider their decision, I am not an avid TV watcher but I have watched Ruby and she has been such an inspiration to so many women. There needs to be more shows like Ruby.

  55. Kathie Clark says:

It goes to show that with all of these signatures that Ruby is a must have. Please keep her on the air, it means so much to people to have a positive role model. This may be the only person who helps someone to try to be healthy. Don’t take a chance like that away from them. There is a reason Ruby needed to tell her story. Her journey isn’t over because a television network “feels” like she said enough. One word, one action, may be saving someone that thinks there isn’t any hope left. Please, please, give her that chance!!!!

  56. Lori says:

OMGosh. I love this show. Best show on Style. I have been so inspired by Ruby and not just her journey to find the truth but her bubbly sweet personality. I want to see her lose all the weight this would so leave everyone hanging! Please continue with Ruby’s journey!!

  57. Geez, no wonder there is a body concious crisis in America.. I just thumbed thru the shows listed on Style network and the titles are “Celebrity Bodies”, “Lose 30lbs During the Holidays”, Brazil Butt Lift”, “Glam Fairy” and “Jerseylicious”! Just reading the info for each of these shows lets you know right away they are more fantasy than reality and there are not too many folks in the everyday world that to to Millionaire Matchmaker Mixers.. give me a break.. give us RUBY! RUBY tells it like it really is and is an inspiration to thousands of us who battle the bulge every day! America needs to GET REAL and stop letting the likes of fantasy reality rule the airways.. PLEASE keep RUBY on the air and let us finish her journey with her! Thank you!

  58. Lisa says:

It’s pretty pathetic that Style execs didn’t even have the guts to call Ruby and tell her that they weren’t renewing the show – she had to find out from her FANS, who read it on the internet after Style had done interviews with the media about it. Where was the interview or meeting with RUBY????? How incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful is THAT?!?!?!?!? Whoever made that decision is a pitiful and heartless excuse for a human being! But…. yeah, it’s ok to treat Ruby like crap because she’s overweight, right? Would Style treat Snookie like that? Jo Frost (aka Supernanny)? The Mowary twins? Nope. They would have called them in for a meeting and broken the news gently BEFORE doing interviews with the media. SHAME ON STYLE!!!!! You have shown the world how little class you have.

  59. Sandra Sayers says:

Ruby is one of the most amazing and inspirational person on television. Not renewing her show is just plain STUPID! Bring her back!

  60. Susan says:

Ruby is a true inspiration, not only for me but so many other people across the nation. Bring her back, there are enough stupid repeatitive shows on the networks without taking away something that really touched people’s hearts and lives. Keep Ruby on television!!!

  61. I really have enjoyed watching Ruby for several seasons and am really bummed they would take the show off. Ruby, Jeff and they rest have become like friends or family to us and not to let us complete the journey with her is upsetting. If Style Network won’t bring her back please approach other networks possibly Discovery or Discovery Health. I am just really bummed, I guess S.N. just doesn’t care about viewership, that was the only show I watched on that network anyway, so adios Style Network.

  62. Nina de jager says:

Pls keep Ruby on air. I am not overweight but still find the program inspirational. Ruby has such a warm personality and caring soul thay it adds to the quality of programs we are exposed to. Ruby and her friends feel like family. I love the program and watchrs it over and over again. From South Africa – a town called jefferts bay

  63. Annette says:

Please keep Ruby on ,she is a really great lady and is an inspiration to people out there,Have a Great Christmas Ruby and New Year love from the Barrott’Hunt Family in New Zealand

  64. Krystal Boggs says:

Ruby helps to remind me everyday that this is a day to decide to make the right choices. That I can’t afford to say “I’ll do this tomorrow.” She helps me remember the power is in my hands to reach my goals and my dreams. She is a real person, helping real people. This is what television needs! This kind of programming makes a REAL difference in the world. Style, keep Ruby on the air!

  65. Carrie Nelson says:

This is the most insane thing I’ve ever heard! They will leave on Jerseylicious, some stupid show called Glamfairy. Do these shows change anyone? These shows are jokes. Ruby’s show is real, life changing to everyone all around the world, opens up her heart and soul to all of us that live this life daily they will take off the tube! I am discussed with Style network!!! Someone has to pick up Ruby!

  66. punkptamom says:

Ruby should go to OWN network. I dont know why Style is cancelling, but perhaps they didnt like it when she went from being a jolly fat lady who just ate too much and moved too little. Now, the real face of obesity is being brought to light and it doesnt fit their narrative. TAKE RUBY OPRAH!

  67. Robin Tyree says:

Please leave Ruby on the air. I have come to know and love Ruby and I want to continue on her journey with her to the end. She is such an inspiration to people that have weight issues. Most over weight people find it easier to sit and home and stay hid away other than to get out and enjoy life because we are so misunderstood. Nobody choose to be so big that is hard to fit in a booth at a resturant or a theater seat or even unable to ride a ride at the amusement park. We are facing issues that make us over weight and it is so hard to lose weight. Ruby has taught me in spite of what people may whisper or even say out loud she chooses to live and enjoy things. I was never taught how to eat healthy. I was taught to clean my plate no matter how many calories there were. I was never taught to exercise. I am being judged for things I had to learn the hard way. I have lost over 100 lbs and Ruby has make me push on thru this battle….seeing what she has done ..gives me the will power to keep on with my battle. So many shows are based on people that has been given their fame…Ruby has earned hers..please don’t take it away! She didnt win the lottery or go to fashion school….she faced a real problem and is learning to fix it as well as teaching others how to deal with theirs.

  68. Char says:

Please keep Ruby on the air. We need real reality shows not stupid crass ones that are overtaking the net works. We need more like Ruby on.

  69. Rue Pipes says:

I can so relate to Ruby – as does everyone else who has struggled with obesity. She is the real deal. I read a comment that someone wrote saying that she hasnt even lost her weight yet. That was horrible. There are many of us that struggle for years to lose weight, and we learn in the process. I love RUBY and want to see her on tv!

  70. MaryAnne Doyle says:

I enjoy Ruby’s show, the cast is great. I get inspired by Ruby. Her struggle is my struggle. I too am obese and have felt the pains and sadness Ruby felt. I look forward to each episode, I even watch the repeats. Please find a slot to air the Ruby show.
    MaryAnne

  71. Ruth Olson says:

Please give Ruby the grace to finish her goal ( in spite of her goal hickups). She gives us so much of her God-given grace to finish our goals, we should all do the same for her. Please keep her show on the air.

  72. Carter Thompson says:

Please jeep Ruby on the air!!!!

  73. Terry says:

Keep Ruby on the air! She is my inspiration!

  74. Barbie says:

Style please keep following Ruby’s journey. I have set backs all the time. My problem is not with overeating. Ruby helps me face my fears & I am trying to get better because of Ruby. I am able to see myself as a normal person that has problems, but can fix them. Please Style just follow Ruby’s journey no matter where it takes her.

  75. Barbie says:

Style please keep following Ruby. I do not have an eating problem. I do have other problems. Ruby helps me face my fears & makes me believe I can overcome anything. I have so many setbacks, but I will keep fighting like Ruby. It is all about not giving up. Thank you Ruby for teaching us that. I wish Style would continue to follow you and not give up on you so easily! I love Ruby. Style please follow Ruby no matter where it takes us.

  76. Diane Lane says:

I am so disappointed in Style network. Style network has changed and become like all the others. The only real network out there is OWN. OWN please pick up Ruby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  77. Shirley says:

Ruby’s show is inspirational, motivational, and as you said, REAL. It was always a must-see for me. Nearly everyone struggles with some kind of addiction, weight or emotional issue, and we can all relate to her journey. What I like best about Ruby’s show, as opposed to the Biggest Loser, is that you can see the ups and downs that real people go through. It’s not a quick one-way ticket to being slim. I think Style is really dropping the ball with this. They finally had a show with SUBSTANCE and they are foolish enough to let it go.

  78. Dianne Teunis says:

We need Ruby, she is our life line our friend, to help us over weight people to get back on track. Our lives depend on her to help us and keep us going forward, Thanks

  79. Christa Gardner says:

PLEASE keep Ruby on the air!!! WE LOVE HER SHOW!!! If Style can’t figure it out, PLEASE get another network to pick it up! She is so REAL and an inspiration!!! WE WANT MORE RUBY!!!

  80. Carla says:

Ruby needs to stay on! She is an inspiration to all of us struggling with our personal issue, addictions and weight. Ruby has such warmth and personality it was always like visiting with a sistet who completely understood how I felt and what I was going through. It was so refreshing to see a show about a person, not about some personal trainers and a cash prize. Ruby was real and it is necessary for us to follow her through to the end. I feel she has become part of my family, and she is missed terribly. Please bring Ruby back!

  81. Terri says:

Please keep airing Ruby!! We need her! Obesity is such a struggle and Ruby shows how hard work pays, but that it is still a struggle!! Emotional issues are usually the issues along with other sometimes physical ones, too. Ruby is the only worthwhile reality tv show out there!

  82. I am furious at Style says:

I have watched all the seasons of Ruby. She is a great inspiriation. Ruby shows us all that we can change who we thought we were! This show isn’t only about weight. It is about every part of us! Friendships, our childhood, past, present, future. Seeing ourselves and that we may fail daily, but Ruby shows us if we do not give up we can still be happy and make it! It takes looking to our past and putting the bad behind us.
Please keep her on television Last season I watched with my iPhone due to Style network not on our regular cable channels. Maybe Own or lifetime, nbc, cbs should pick Ruby up!

  83. Begging Style network says:

I Beg Style network to continue Ruby and her inspiring life. She will always continue to be an inspiration to all who know her and can follow her story. This is valuable not only to the viewers, but to Ruby herself. Thank you!

    Style please we need Ruby!

  84. Hear us says:

With the government talking about obese americans, then why are you cutting this show? Rediculous. What are you gonna put in place of it some anorexic swearing whores? Housewives?Famous people? There are more than enough of those shows. Ruby speaks for us all! Why can’t the government, networks hear and see. She is telling and showing the truth behind this addiction! I am boycotting Style network if Ruby does not come back!

  85. Patricia Smith says:

Leave Ruby on the air. I looked forward to seeing the show each week. She is an inspiration to all us overweight people.

  86. Rita & Frank says:

I ‘ve called and sent an email to NBC and Style but of course they aren’t responding.
We have to fight to keep Ruby on the air!

  87. Tia says:

I love this show… i went from being heavy and losing weight! I love Ruby and how upbeat she is and even tho I dont know her personally I feel that the show helps me with so many other issues.

  88. Boycott Style says:

Ruby has become my best friend through her show. Ruby is really an awesome person inside and out…they would rather watch stupid Kim Kardashian or Jerseyshore any other tabloid crap than have a REAL person on their station…whatever, this is the main reason I don’t watch E! or Style! Now they have the nerve to take Ruby off without letting us see her ending. They follow idiots all the time. I think they are punishing Ruby for gaining weight. What does that say to the rest of us.

  89. Go to Own, Lifetime, Abc, Cbs, Nbc says:

We want Ruby back on! Why doesn’t Ruby do what Conan did and go to another network?! Ruby please go to another network!

  90. Carol says:

Ruby’s show really helped me. Its too bad the network doesn’t want real self help shows to air..Its so sad!

  91. I won't watch Style anymore!!! says:

No way!!! Then I won’t watch the Style network!!! Another Chanel will pick her up!! Too many of us NEED our Ruby!

  92. What can we do? says:

I feel like i lost a friend…I look forward to that show! What can we do?

  93. I need my Ruby fix! says:

I need RUBY! I would suggest shopping this to OWN… I think it would do very well there. I need my Ruby fix!

  94. Someone please pick Ruby UP! says:

Oprah could really help her..they are a network that actually care about people. I guess style wants to be just like the others with the mind numbing craziness. Oh well, that was the only show i watched on style, so I guess they lose a viewer…
    Someone please pick Ruby UP!

  95. Anthony says:

I can’t believe that the Style Network is even considering canceling Ruby!! We need to see Ruby complete her journey!! They will be making a big mistake!! Ruby makes us laugh and is an inspiration to the world.

  96. Drop kardashians - keep RUBY - She is real!!!! says:

Showing rubish like kardashians and other shows like playboy girls etc is just teaching children to have an unrealistic view of life. Ruby is real and her show teaches values to kids and also that everything you really want will cost hard work. That is what real life is about!

  97. I hope someone starts carrying Ruby's show again! says:

Ruby is such an inspiration to so many people! I think style network is crazy not to put Ruby back on!I I watched Ruby’s show so i could better understand people with weight problems, I never would have thought i would learn as much as i have from Ruby’s show! I hope someone starts carrying Ruby’s show again!

  98. I will follow Ruby wherever she goes!!! says:

I am crossing fingers, toes, eyes for her show to be back on!! I will follow Ruby wherever she goes!!!

  99. angie says:

Please keep this show on the air. It helps so many struggling people love the show! The only show I watch style airs! We need to know what happens next!!!

  100. Debbi Strauub says:

I have been watching “Ruby” since the very first show debuted and have followed her every step since. Being morbidly obese myself, I have counted on Ruby’s show as my own support group to help keep me motivated to keep up this very challenging fight again obesity. Like Ruby, it has plagued me my entire life, but finally having a television show that features a REAL LIVE PERSON who is so bravely dealing with this struggle in the public view has helped not only me, but hundreds of thousands of people fighting the same issue.

The Style Network should be ashamed of not only their current decision not to bring “Ruby” back, but the fact that I had to HUNT to find out this information confirms that they KNOW it’s a bad idea. The Style Network needs to hear from those of us who have been looking forward to, indeed counting on starting our 2012 New Year off with Ruby Gettinger. WE NEED HER!!!!

Please sign to bring her back! Thanks!

  101. Debbi Straub says:

So upset, I misspelled my own name! :0

  102. Carolyn Pringle says:

I agree. The Syle Network should be very ashamed!!. Keeping “The Glam Fairy” and “Jersyelious” and canceling RUBY? Really? I have tried to watch both of the shows. All they do is scream at one another. Come on Style Network do the right thing
    CP in Indy.

  103. kim elsokary says:

Please keep Ruby on the air she is such an inspiration to her fans

  104. Anita King says:

I so enjoy watching Ruby. I have had a gastric bypass and was up around 335 lbs and then I lost 11o lbs. Bue due to repeated steroid treatment I’ve put part of it back on. It is a struggle especially when you have poor health and are advancing in age. I loved Ruby- she has a wealth of Ruby personality! She was a character that was real, with actual morals, and she didn’t have to be about half-naked to get attention. I admire all the work she has done mentally, physically, and spiritually. I’d love to see maybe another station pick her up- ? TLC, LIFETIME , WE. God Bless Ruby-we learn, love, and laugh and cry with you.

  105. rickyle says:

How stupid can a network get? Doing this to Ruby was very wrong. Goes to show you how sick some people really are. Greed and the all mighty dollar won out. Ruby was and is the best so called REALITY show out there. Wild parities, sex, bitch fights and public drunkiness wins, for now

  106. Bobby Binion says:

You go Ruby! I know you can do this. Let me know when you plan to come back to do the interviews…

  107. so ” Rubys story has been told” ??? but the Kardashians still have a show? and 18 kids and counting still has a show? I personally cant handle the southern accent and her making up words for things so i stoped watching… but i think its appalling that they drop her…

  108. Lisa says:

Maybe Ruby’s Christianity was too “politically incorrect” for the Style Channel. It’s the only logical conclusion that I can come to. Why else would you not renew your most popular show? What a shame!
